Back to Ancient Greece

I realise it's been a while since my last post, but I've been quite busy and then Jamie and I went on holiday for a week. More on our little break later, for now it's an update on the annual summer fete my work organised just over two weeks ago.
As usual the day-time was packed with rustic picnic style food, old-fashioned live music and of course lots of polo.

This year's theme for the night was Ancient Greece.
So Jamie and I made our own costumes for the occasion.

Jamie went as Icarus ...

... and I dressed up as Medusa.

There was a lot of dancing on the night ...

... as well as some ancient Olympic Games such as the historically well known double space hopper races, ...

... proper Chariot races, ...

... and Greek Wrestling, ...

..., but I met some of the fighters and they weren't actually that scary.

In my next post I will tell you about the great holiday and I had - once I've sorted through the 749 (!) pictures I took.

In Search for the Crown Jewels

It was the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and there were street parties all over the country with lots of bunting (I love bunting) and Union Jack flags to celebrate the Queen and of course the 4-day-weekend.

A few days ahead of the actual jubilee my colleague Katie and I put on an event at work. We decided to dress up all "British", so I made a super quick (half-hour) skirt out of some cheapy supermarket flags for my appointment with the Queen.

We decorated our canteen with paper chains, flags and bunting - did I mention that I love bunting?

We put on a royal treasure hunt in search for the crown jewels, which people took very serious.

Everyone really seemed to really enjoy themselves and it was great fun for me and Katie to watch all our colleagues turning into little kids.

Last, but not least we hosted a crown making competition on the day. Have a look at people's entries and feel free to vote for your favourite below.
