Finished Pressies

I managed to finish that leaving present for Katka just in time and she loved it: a ruffled crochet scarf. It was simple to make but I didn't take into account that it might be quite time consuming as I was doubling the amount of stitches with each row, so this isn't exactly an ideal last minute project when every minute counts. I used DK weight yarn, an 8 mm and a 10 mm hook. Here's the pattern for it (using US terms):

using 8 mm hook ch 132
row 1: insert hook into 2nd ch from hook, sc into each ch until the end, ch 3 and turn

row 2: dc into base of turning ch, dc twice into each sc until the end, ch 3 and turn

change to 10 mm hook

row 3: dc into base of turning ch, dc twice into each dc until the end, ch 3 and turn

row 4: dc into base of turning ch, dc twice into each sc until the end

fasten off and weave in ends

I also managed to take some photos of the hat / scarf combo I made as a late Birthday present for my friend, Hilde. It's the cascade scarf from "A little slice of life" which is similar to my ruffled scarf but with less increases and larger stitches which makes it look softer. I made the hat up as I went along and forgot to take notes to write up a pattern but I'm planning on making another one, so hopefully I remember to take notes next time. It can be worn as a slouchy beret or to one side like a classic French beret. I added a pom pom for a little bit of fun but I'm not too sure about it now. I will leave the decision to Hilde whether she wants to keep it or not.
