I've got so many apples in my garden at the moment I decided to make some more "Apfelmus". It's basically stewed apple compote or puree with a little sugar and a lot of cinnamon, traditionally strained through a sieve but I quite like to have little chunks in it so I skipped that step.

It's lovely with pancakes or plain potato röstis, it also makes a good pie filling but I like eating it on its own as a dessert or a snack in between. I'm not sure how many jars I made so far this year but it's sure going to get me through the winter - I hope.
